Recently AOC has been making headlines as she had stated that she chooses to not hold crypto in order to remain impartial.
While I understand her point of view, I also believe this can also negatively impact the crypto space – here’s how.
When a person has an issue with their drain pipes, or toilet they typically call a plumber – why?
Because a plumber has knowledge on the subject matter to make an accurate assessment on the situation. They have enough theory and application on their profession to be called an expert. They are competent enough to find a solution to resolve the problem.
When someone has a legal matter to be handled they usually call a lawyer, why?
Again, to hand the matter over to an expert that can accurately assess the situation for the best resolution possible.
Now, when we have someone who remains impartial on a situation how they be trusted enough to advocate in the favour of a person or group; or in this case – for cryptocurrency. How will this person advocate on a subject in which they do not fully understand?
Without theory there cannot be application, and without application, then a theory will remain as such.
Many of us who hold cryptocurrency understand the pitfalls very well because we have applied our knowledge on the subject to some capacity. Scammers, sh@coins, gas fees, frontrunning, etc.
A politician who has never bothered to engage in applying any sort of theory will know less than even a newbie crypto investor.
To conclude, I believe that if you are going to advocate for, or against something – you should have both the theory and application on how it works.
