I have read stories over the past week about people who claim to have ‘worked with’ Satoshi at the beginning of Bitcoin. Even if Satoshi is a pseudonym, I genuinely don’t understand how such a secret could have been kept over all this time???
Is it really possible that the original/core group was so tight knit that they kept the secret? TBH, given the history of world events, it seems the most plausible scenario might be that Satoshi was a lone wolf who got whacked by China or the CIA or something in hopes of killing the project.
Of all the black boxes and things I don’t understand about Crypto (and believe me there are many) this is one thing that I just can’t get over.
What are the best theories you’ve heard about this?
Early cypherpunks were libertarians that were obsessed with privacy and the new technologies that made it possible to interact with the world while remaining anonymous. It‘s not that surprising no one knows who satoshi is, most of them aren‘t known to the public other then the few that went the academic ways. It was the basic idea behind the group to be untraceable and I think we will most likely never find out who he was.
Why he created a coin, that everybody will be able to see the transactions until the end.
Silk road creator was one hell of a libertarian
While some cypherpunks may have been Libertarians that generalization isn’t accurate, Cypherpunks have diverse political ideology.
Well, working with Satoshi could mean exchanging some emails, things like that. It doesn’t mean sharing an office with the guy/group.
Especially in the context of an open source project, where you can completely anonymize your contributions.
This. Satoshi was a master of cryptography
He even registered bitcoin.org through an anonymous domain registrar. He was very serious about not being identifiable.
Proving you are Satoshi couldn’t be simpler.
All he has to do is to sign a message with the PK Satoshi had for his funds. Yet, he hasn’t done that. The most obvious proof.
This is as fake as he gets.
The Simpson’s know who Satoshi is
Check out the archives on Nakamitsu institute, no way to tell who Nakamoto is from those plentiful exchanges.
The white paper often does refer to a ‘we’
Hey, Satoshi, you cheap bastard, you never pitch in for the coffee fund.
Guys lol Its SAmsung, TOSHIba, NAKAmichi, and MOTOrola.
Finally, an answer I can get behind!
