The vast majority of the ads that I see in the Brave browser are crypto-related – which makes sense after all, of course everyone seeing their ads are in their target demographic. So when I saw an ad on Brave this morning for Dave Ramsey, I was shocked. This goes beyond mainstream support to be the other extreme of finance, where even the most conservative financial “experts” are becoming crypto-literate enough to
-
Learn about Brave
-
Appreciate its significance and
-
Buy BAT to post the ads
When someone on the complete opposite end of the personal finance spectrum is getting there, it’s a strong sign that the rest of the people in the “middle” will get there sooner rather than later.
(To be clear, this post is in no way supporting Dave Ramsey, just positive surprise that someone in his company is crypto-literate)
Brave is interesting to be sure, before dropping actual money though you may want to look into
Why so many users have issues with funds disappearing?
Why so many of their users reported issues go ignored when they are about missing funds?
Considering how many people this has been done to why do you think they wouldn’t do it to you as well?
By all means if you are using it and getting Brave that you can cash out definitely do so! Just do not whatever you do actually Buy any.
People that find this behavior acceptable are quite literally ok with others being taken advantage of as long as it’s not them. Remember that.
Just because his ad is on the browser doesn’t mean he knows its being promoted through a crypto based browser.
He still very much hates and dislikes crypto. I made a post about him the other day.
I feel his bias is due to the fact he’s very traditional and also his job is helping folks get out of debt. In his mine all crypto is risk and he doesn’t want to promote that to his viewers.
I use brave browser and it’s chrome on steroids, I earn bat while I watch porn
Free crypto? Yess please
Dave Ramsey has great advice for debt repayment and living a financially sustainable life. But, his investment advice is the definition of boomer trash. Dave still pushes his cult into high fee, fat load mutual funds.
I agree, which is part of why I was so shocked to see this!
I also hate his avoidance of CCs. CCs when used wisely are great.
I’m still not going to tithe Dave.
But if Dave wants to tithe me with BAT, I’ll accept
I tithe to the crypto gods.
I’m extremely skeptical of the future of brave, because the concept really reminds me of back in 2000 when there were tons of browsers or browser extensions (I don’t know what they were called back then because I was 7 and didn’t speak english) that gave you free dial-up internet or like 10 cents per day or something like that to have an ad bar installed on the bottom of your computer or browser.
And those things clearly died out.
That’s fair. I’ll say though that with the built-in ad blocker it removes any existing ads on sites, then offers optional ad replacements, rather than requiring additional ads like the browsers you’re talking about.
In any case though, the point is that Brave has gotten big enough for traditional finance sources to start using a token that is barely in the top 100. I think that says something about the speed of uptake for crypto in general.
